Tākina Wellington Convention & Exhibition Centre

There are projects that come along once a generation that are not only a great opportunity to work on, but a privilege .  Tākina Wellington is such a project.  Working in collaboration with Studio Pacific Architects, LT Mcguinness and Wellington City Council, the Kadima workshop created truly unique and stunning lobby seating.

The initial design brief at the tender process was a cookie cutter "off the shelf" public seating arrangement.  Kadima took a more provocative approach, and presented a design option that was more aesthetically aligned with the special nature of the building and the client.

Wellington is not made from straight lines.   The hills and mountains roll around a hook shaped harbour, where big waves boil over rocks and stones.  The colours change with the rising or setting sun, and the seasons.   So, the lobby seating is designed to reflect that unique Wellington geography, with curves and bends, colour gradients and texture.  Offset by giant pebble rock ottoman seats, the look is complete.

And, of course the seating is built to the highest commercial specifications....to last.   What great results can be achieved by working with the client, and the talent that surrounds us in this amazing city.  Why be "safe" when you can be different!   The Kadima team are ready for you to challenge the norm.
